experiment 1 - erasure poem
For the first experiment, I took the opening section of my origin piece and turned it into an erasure poem. This genre required me to drill the same written ideas in a rawer, more potent form but also choose which words to keep versus erase.

I found it challenging to let go of context when crafting this poem (as someone who loves being wordy) but was eventually able to trust the words I left behind and embrace the ambiguity. This experiment taught me that storytelling is neither one-dimensional nor complete sometimes, and the unsaid can be just as powerful.
experiment 2 - satirical how-to guide
For the second experiment, I honed in on the eyebrow threading practices present within my origin piece and crafted a satirical how-to guide. This form aimed to educate readers who may not know much about eyebrow threading and add a wry twist to it with satirical techniques.

I particularly enjoyed trying to entertain, instruct, and critique simultaneously, and I referred to equal amounts of both beauty and satirical magazines as references for writing this guide. I tried to focus a lot more on my audience this time around, and I enjoyed building my capabilities to develop something genuine yet imbued with humor to tackle various complex topics.
